Position Title : Project Assistant

Project Title : To understand forest structure and regeneration patterns in the non-monsoonal forests of Western Himalaya.

Project Funding Agency : National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS), Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Govt. of India

Position Details

  • Number of Positions: 2
  • Duty Station : Nainital / Dehradun
  • Duration : The engagement of staff shall be initially for a period of year and extendable by a further period of two years subject to satisfactory performance and conduct of the engaged staff and release of funds by the funding agency. The positions are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.
  • Remuneration : Monthly emoluments (Rs. 20,000 +HRA@16% /month)

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct fieldwork, data collection, and analysis
  • Assist in literature review and report writing
  • Coordinate with local stakeholders and government bodies
  • Contribute to research publications and presentations

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in science with subjects i.e. Forestry/Botany/Environmental Science as part of the degree with minimum of 55% marks from a recognized university/institution
  • Ability to work in high altitude areas proficiency in MS Office
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Willingness to travel to field locations

Desirable Qualifications

Candidates having knowledge and experience in field survey and forest sampling, structure and functioning, regeneration studies will be given preference
